THE YARBLES, LINEAR AND THE FALLING LEAVES
MERCURY/CHARLOTTE SHOWCASE
REVIEW BY DAVE DAVIES
10:30 - 16 March
The Falling Leaves' pounding, pulsating, power-pop opener boded well for their set - although it is the first time I have seen a
guitarist stop playing, look bemused and scratch his head before launching into a blistering solo
Their second song was possibly the highlight of a tight and refreshingly vocal-centred performance.
The Girl With Sunshine In Her Hair (Everybody Loves Her) was three-and-a-half minutes of mid-tempo, sing-along bliss.
The refreshing emphasis on vocal hooks belied some seriously heavy guitar mangling and made them a band to look out for in the
future.
