The Princess Charlotte Review:

IMMEDIATE IMPACT DESPITE STARTING FROM SCRATCH

THE YARBLES, LINEAR AND THE FALLING LEAVES
MERCURY/CHARLOTTE SHOWCASE
REVIEW BY DAVE DAVIES

The Falling Leaves' pounding, pulsating, power-pop opener boded well for their set - although it is the
first time I have seen a guitarist stop playing, look bemused and scratch his head before launching into
a blistering solo.
Their second song was possibly the highlight of a tight and refreshingly vocal-centred performance.
The Girl With Sunshine In Her Hair (Everybody Loves Her) was three-and-a-half minutes of mid-tempo,
sing-along bliss.
The refreshing emphasis on vocal hooks belied some seriously heavy guitar mangling and made them
a band to look out for in the future.
"Next up are The Falling Leaves from the UK. Their powerpop/shoegaze is really appealing. Bit of a
boring official homepage, but who needs all the fancy fuzz when the music is that good?"

Drowned In Sound say: Although the Out Of The Box night is still in it's infancy, the fact that over
100 people are packed into a tiny bar in a small town somewhere between Nottingham & Derby on a
Thursday night should tell you something special is happening...

Playing the graveyard slot whilst most people are still trying to find the venue is a daunting prospect for
any band, but for Leicester four-piece it's merely water of a ducks back. Their incendiary tremelo-gazed
rock is steeped in pre-Britpop reference points such as Ride & the Weather Prophets, while their three
way harmonies are a joy to behold. Dom Gourlay.
Summer Sundae Weekender Festival 11th Aug 2007

Reviews from efestivals and elsewhere:

"The Falling Leaves could easily get 1500 people singing the chorus to The Girl With The Sunshine In
Her Hair - a truly excellent SSW anthem." Solid.

"They'd be my choice - great set and got a good crowd indoors to say it was so sunny out" & "You really
were much better than 'not that shabby', much, much better." LL Cool Phil.

"I defo think Falling Leaves should get the slot next year. Totally underated band. Go down well they
would. Possibly Dirty Backbeats but they're prob better in intimate setting. " Interpol

"Your set was wicked and i really enjoyed it. That was a pretty good crowd you got by the way. It must
have felt awesome. i was a bit gutted cos my band did pretty well in that competition that fazed won.
iId have love to have played. those flyers you gave us are all over my bedroom floor now" Sammy
Sundae

"The ********** were a bit rubbish (a band with the problem of thinking they're much MUCH better
than they are) and I was expecting The Falling Leaves to be the same (sorry, Ed!) but they were actually
excellent." Miles

Drowned In Sound"....maybe a little of the new bracketing we're calling New Mod, which we'll expand
on when we've thought of more than two other bands in its style. One certainly isn't The Falling
Leaves, who sound more like a cross between Thirteen Senses and the Electric Soft Parade in their hit
making days and bugger all like the "tremelo-gazed guitar...and an acid house backbeat" promised in
the programme." Ed in not New Mod shocker.

The Leicester Mercury - Dave Davies "The Falling Leaves would have had the song of the festival, The
Girl With the Sun in Her Hair, if they had played outside."
